Job Description

This role focuses on installing, inspecting, and repairing industrial equipment, with a strong emphasis on mechanical maintenance. You will support multiple customer facilities within a defined regional radius, performing a wide variety of work on furnaces, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, conveyors, and related systems. The position combines hands-on mechanical repair, welding and fabrication, and preventative maintenance, and offers exposure to diverse plants and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Report to the home office at the start of each day and participate in a brief meeting to review the daily work plan.

• Drive a company truck to customer plants, typically traveling with another team member, to perform on-site maintenance and repair work.

• Install industrial machinery and mechanical equipment using layouts, blueprints, and schematics as guides.

• Inspect, maintain, and repair furnaces, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, motors, chain drives, and conveyor systems.

• Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and schematic diagrams to plan and execute work accurately.

• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to assemble, disassemble, and adjust machinery and components.

• Troubleshoot machinery and mechanical systems to identify root causes of failures and determine appropriate repair solutions.

• Perform fabrication of parts using MIG or stick welding to repair or modify equipment as needed.

• Carry out preventative maintenance tasks to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.

• Work at various factories and industrial sites within the regional service area, adapting to different processes and equipment.

• Collaborate with other millwrights and maintenance professionals while also working independently when required.

• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working in industrial environments, including proper use of tools and equipment.

• Lift and move materials and components weighing up to 50 pounds frequently during the course of daily work.

• Participate in an on-call rotation approximately one week each month and respond to maintenance needs during off-hours as assigned.

• Work occasional weekends and holidays as needed to support customer operations and scheduled maintenance.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of experience in a mechanical maintenance role such as millwright, welder/fabricator, or maintenance technician.

• Proficiency in mechanical maintenance of industrial equipment, including installation, inspection, and repair.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and schematic diagrams accurately.

• Ability to weld using MIG or stick processes and perform basic to intermediate fabrication work.

• Competence in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for mechanical maintenance and fabrication tasks.

• Experience troubleshooting mechanical machinery and systems to diagnose and resolve issues.

• Capability to perform preventative maintenance on industrial equipment and systems.

• Ownership of basic hand tools suitable for mechanical maintenance work.

• Ability to work effectively on a team and also operate independently with minimal supervision.

• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and perform physically demanding tasks in an industrial setting.

• Willingness to work first shift with variable start times and to support occasional weekend and holiday work as needed.

• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours maintenance needs.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $58240.00/yr.
