Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician
Job Description
Join a small, skilled facilities team as a Facilities Maintenance Technician responsible for keeping a modern production facility safe, functional, and well maintained. You will focus on all aspects of the building infrastructure outside of production equipment, performing a wide range of maintenance, repair, and improvement tasks on a consistent first-shift schedule.
Responsibilities
Maintain and repair facility infrastructure, focusing on building systems and areas not related to production equipment.
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair lighting systems, including fixtures, bulbs, and related electrical components.
Install, repair, and replace electrical switches and related hardware in accordance with safety standards.
Perform painting, patching, and drywall repair to maintain a clean and professional appearance throughout the facility.
Install, adjust, and repair manual and automatic doors, including hardware, hinges, closers, and related components.
Address minor HVAC issues such as filter changes, basic troubleshooting, and small repairs to support comfortable building conditions.
Remove snow and ice from doorways and entry areas to maintain safe access to the facility.
Assemble, install, and relocate office furniture and fixtures as needed to support facility layout and office needs.
Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to diagnose issues and plan maintenance or repair activities.
Perform general mechanical troubleshooting on facility-related systems and structures.
Collaborate closely with a second team member and other departments to prioritize and complete maintenance requests.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to ensure accurate records and effective follow-up.
Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance facility reliability, safety, and appearance.
Essential Skills
Proven experience in facility maintenance with responsibility for building infrastructure and systems.
Hands-on electrical troubleshooting skills for facility-related electrical systems such as lighting and switches.
Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose and repair a variety of building-related issues.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for mechanical and electrical systems.
Experience maintaining and repairing doors, including manual and automatic door systems.
Basic HVAC knowledge to address minor issues and perform simple maintenance tasks.
Proficiency with general maintenance tasks such as painting, drywall repair, and light carpentry.
Ability to perform troubleshooting in a structured, safe, and efficient manner.
Comfort working in colder temperature environments within the facility.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through on maintenance tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a food production or manufacturing facility environment is beneficial.
Familiarity with facility maintenance best practices and preventive maintenance programs.
Ability to assemble and install office furniture and related fixtures.
Comfort working as part of a small, collaborative maintenance team.
Flexibility to adapt to changing maintenance priorities and facility needs.

Work Environment
This role operates on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Thursday, working four 10-hour days with a flexible start time around 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. The facility is located in an older building that has been maintained to a high standard, with a very clean, organized environment and new equipment. The work takes place in colder temperatures throughout much of the building, reflecting the nature of the production operations. You will work closely with a small facilities team and interact with other departments as needed to support facility needs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
