Job Title: Production Operator – Overnight Shift

Job Description

This position supports a high‑volume corrugated manufacturing operation, working on a 410‑foot corrugator line that produces cardboard sheets for a wide range of packaging applications. You will operate and monitor production equipment, support material flow, stack finished product, and rotate through different areas of the line as your skills grow. This is a long‑term, overnight role on 12‑hour shifts with built‑in overtime, strong earning potential, and clear opportunities to learn industrial equipment and advance over time.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and closely monitor production equipment along the corrugated sheet line to maintain steady, efficient output.

  • Work on either the wet end or dry end of the corrugator line as assigned, adjusting to different tasks and stations as needed.

  • Stack, move, and prepare corrugated sheets for downstream processing, ensuring materials are organized and ready for the next stage.

  • Perform basic machine adjustments and respond to minor mechanical issues to keep equipment running smoothly.

  • Follow all safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and production guidelines within a team‑based environment.

  • Support continuous material flow by loading, unloading, and repositioning product throughout the shift.

  • Use basic tools, such as tape measures and hand tools, to verify dimensions and assist with routine equipment tasks.

  • Communicate frequently with teammates, operators, and leads to coordinate production, maintain quality, and minimize downtime.

  • Participate in cross‑training across multiple positions along the line and apply new skills as they are learned.

  • Attend pre‑shift safety and production briefings and follow instructions for daily assignments and production priorities.

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and contribute to overall housekeeping and 5S efforts in the facility.

  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality to support a 20‑person crew working in a fast‑paced, continuous‑run operation.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to consistently work 12‑hour overnight shifts, three consecutive days per week (typically 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM).

  • Reliability and strong attendance, with a commitment to supporting a rotating schedule and full‑year calendar.

  • Comfort working in a non‑climate‑controlled industrial environment around high‑speed, continuous‑running machinery.

  • Willingness to learn equipment operation and rotate through different tasks and positions along the production line.

  • Ability to work effectively within a 20‑person crew in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented setting.

  • Mechanical aptitude and curiosity about how machines work, with the ability to perform basic machine adjustments.

  • Capacity to perform general production and labor tasks, including loading, stacking, and moving materials throughout the shift.

  • Motivation to cross‑train, develop new skills, and take on additional responsibilities over time.

  • Ability to use basic tools such as tape measures and hand tools safely and accurately.

  • Strong work ethic, attention to safety, and willingness to follow established procedures and guidelines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in corrugated, paper, or packaging production environments.

  • Prior machine operation experience in industrial or manufacturing settings.

  • Exposure to forklift operation or other industrial material‑handling equipment.

  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting ability to identify and respond to minor equipment issues.

  • Experience in light industrial, warehouse, or production roles involving loading, stacking, or general labor.

  • BOCES, trade‑school, or similar technical training background.

  • Proven success working third‑shift or overnight schedules.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly with minimal supervision once trained.

  • Strong motivation, dependable attendance history, and a track record of meeting performance expectations.

Why Work Here?

You join a stable manufacturing operation that offers a predictable rotating schedule with a full‑year calendar provided in advance, giving you three consecutive workdays followed by four consecutive days off and periodic stretches of up to seven days off in a row. The structure of 12‑hour shifts, daily overtime, and Sunday double time creates strong earning potential, with overtime consistently available but never mandatory. You receive full training with no prior manufacturing experience required, making this a true entry point into industrial careers. As you cross‑train and add new skills, your pay increases through a clear, skill‑based progression, and you can move into additional roles across the operation. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid holidays, all PPE provided, and team‑share bonuses throughout the year support your overall well‑being. Leadership is accessible and invested in your success, with supervisors who began on the production floor and are focused on helping employees grow long term, making this a place where you can build a lasting career from the ground up.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, organized, light‑industrial manufacturing facility that specializes in producing custom corrugated paper sheets for use in boxes, shipping containers, and retail displays. Work takes place in a non‑climate‑controlled environment, so temperatures can vary with the seasons. Production centers around a 410‑foot BHS corrugating machine that runs continuously throughout the site, and employees work on either the wet end or dry end of the production line in close proximity to high‑speed, moving equipment and rotating production stations. The operation runs 12‑hour shifts on a rotating overnight schedule, typically three consecutive nights followed by multiple days off, with a full‑year schedule provided in advance. The facility emphasizes safety, organization, and teamwork, and provides all required personal protective equipment to support safe, efficient work on the floor.
