Job Description

This role focuses on assembling mechanical and electrical components for production systems by following detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions. You will use a variety of hand and power tools to build frames, sub-assemblies, cooling systems, and enclosure components while performing basic quality checks and documenting your work. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and a commitment to meeting production and quality standards in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble frames, sub-assemblies, cooling systems, and enclosure components using hand and power tools in accordance with engineering drawings and build instructions.

  • Install mechanical hardware, busbars, brackets, cable trays, and structural components accurately following engineering documentation.

  • Perform alignment of mechanical parts to ensure proper fit and function.

  • Follow electrical schematics and wiring diagrams to complete electrical assemblies.

  • Route, cut, strip, crimp, and terminate wires and harnesses according to specifications.

  • Install electrical components and ensure correct placement and secure mounting.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions accurately to guide assembly work.

  • Assemble, modify, rework, and reassemble production components using drawings, pick tickets, process documentation, and verbal instructions.

  • Perform repetitive and skilled assembly operations while maintaining high quality and meeting production targets.

  • Conduct in-process quality inspections to ensure assemblies meet all standards and specifications.

  • Conduct basic quality checks to identify defects or non-conformances and take appropriate corrective actions.

  • Document results of assembly and inspection activities and communicate issues to engineering or project leads in a timely manner.

  • Work from a tablet or computer to locate job orders and enter necessary production or quality data.

  • Use hand and power tools, including power screwdrivers, wire strippers, and crimpers safely and effectively.

  • Lift and move components and assemblies up to 50 lbs as required to complete tasks.

  • Collaborate with team members and leads to resolve assembly issues and support continuous improvement of processes.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in mechanical and electrical assembly in a production or manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively, including power screwdrivers, wire strippers, and crimpers.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in mechanical assembly and alignment of parts.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and work instructions accurately.

  • Experience with electrical assembly, including routing, cutting, stripping, crimping, and terminating wires and harnesses.

  • Familiarity with installing electrical components and hardware in control panels or similar assemblies.

  • Basic understanding of electrical wiring and circuit board assembly practices.

  • Ability to perform basic quality checks and identify defects or non-conformances in assembled products.

  • Comfort using tablets or computers for job order lookup and basic data entry.

  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Strong troubleshooting mindset to identify and resolve assembly issues.

  • Ability to follow verbal instructions and process documentation consistently and accurately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with control panels or related electrical assemblies.

  • Background in electronics or electronic assembly is beneficial.

  • Exposure to production environments that support data centers or similar industries.

  • General labor experience in manufacturing or industrial settings.

  • Comfort working with both mechanical and electrical components in an integrated assembly.

Work Environment

This is a full-time role in a production environment with multiple shifts available. One shift typically runs from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and another from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with current schedules often extending to 10-hour days. Overtime may be required, and candidates should be open to working additional hours as needed to meet production demands. Work takes place at two manufacturing locations in the Simpsonville and Fountain Inn areas. The environment involves regular use of hand and power tools, including power screwdrivers, wire strippers, and crimpers, as well as working from tablets or computers to access job orders and enter data. The role requires frequent standing, repetitive motions, and lifting up to 50 lbs while working around mechanical and electrical assemblies in a structured, process-driven setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Simpsonville, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
