We are seeking a Shale and Tight Finance Insights professional to support executive decision making through deep financial analysis, market intelligence, and investment-oriented insights. This role sits at the intersection of corporate finance, investment banking-style analysis, operational performance, and external market perspectives, supporting a large, capital‑intensive business operating in dynamic global markets.

The role partners closely with Investor Relations, Operations, Commercial, and business leaders to evaluate capital investment opportunities, benchmark performance against external peers, and translate complex financial, operational, and market data into clear, decision‑ready insights. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong analytical rigor, capital markets acumen, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders through concise, high‑impact storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted strategic and financial advisor, delivering insight-driven analysis to support investment, portfolio, and capital allocation decisions.

  • Lead investment-style financial analyses, including valuation, returns analysis, scenario modeling, and sensitivity analysis across strategic initiatives, regions, or portfolios.

  • Develop and maintain robust financial models informed by external market data, commodity trends, peer benchmarks, and macroeconomic assumptions.

  • Analyze and synthesize external market intelligence, including peer performance, investor sentiment, capital markets activity, and industry trends.

  • Translate complex financial, operational, and market signals into clear narratives and recommendations tailored to executive leadership.

  • Link operating performance and key business drivers to valuation, returns, and broader market outcomes.

  • Prepare executive‑level materials, including financial reporting packages, executive level insights, and leadership briefings.

  • Build and enhance dashboards and analytical tools that integrate internal performance data with external market benchmarks.

  • Identify opportunities to improve insight generation through automation, standardization, and advanced analytics.

Success in This Role

Success is defined by the ability to drive better performance and strategic outcomes through insight, not just analysis.

  • Anticipates leadership and investor-level questions and proactively provides answers.

  • Thinks like an investor, connecting operating performance to value creation.

  • Brings an external mindset, grounding recommendations in market realities and peer positioning.

  • Communicates complex financial concepts clearly to senior executives and technical audiences.

  • Operates effectively in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment with evolving priorities.

  • Continuously raises the bar on analytical quality, storytelling, and decision relevance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.

  • Strong financial modeling skills in Microsoft Excel, including valuation, returns analysis, and scenario modeling.

  • Experience communicating investment or strategy‑oriented insights to senior leadership.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving capabilities.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across finance, strategy, and commercial teams.
