Job Title: Injection Molding Process Technician
Job Description
The Injection Molding Process Technician sets up, monitors, operates, and troubleshoots plastic injection-molding machines to produce high-quality parts that meet strict standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. This role ensures all molds, auxiliary equipment, materials, and machines are configured according to established procedures, while actively resolving processing issues and supporting continuous improvement in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Set up and start up plastic injection-molding machines in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Visual Operating Procedures (VOP).
Verify that molds, auxiliary equipment, materials, and injection molding machines are properly installed and configured to meet quality standards and production goals.
Monitor and operate injection-molding machines to ensure consistent production of quality parts.
Troubleshoot processing issues and machine problems, adjusting processing parameters as needed to maintain optimal performance.
Monitor the quality of parts being prepared for shipment and take corrective action when deviations from specifications occur.
Determine and adjust processing parameters for various tools and molds to achieve desired product quality and cycle times.
Perform mold changes and mold setups safely and efficiently.
Perform preventative maintenance tasks on molding equipment and document process changes accurately.
Operate forklifts, hoists, and hand tools safely while handling production materials and molds.
Operate machines and package finished products when required to support production needs.
Apply root cause analysis to identify and resolve mechanical and processing issues.
Demonstrate strong communication, dedication, commitment, respect, pride, and trust in daily interactions with colleagues.
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Perform other duties as assigned to support overall manufacturing operations.
Essential Skills
At least 5 years of experience in plastics processing.
Hands-on experience setting up, monitoring, operating, and troubleshooting plastic injection-molding machines.
Proficiency with injection molding processes, including mold setup, mold changes, and processing parameter adjustments.
Working knowledge of injection molding equipment, including hydraulics and electrical systems.
Ability to monitor and maintain part quality, including inspection of parts prepared for shipment.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment and process issues.
Experience performing preventative maintenance on injection molding equipment.
Ability to safely operate forklifts, hoists, and hand tools in a production environment.
Capability to lift items up to 40 pounds.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with production teams.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Prior experience as a Processing Technician or in an equivalent role.
Background in plastics engineering, plastics technology, or related manufacturing disciplines.
Experience with mold tooling, mold maintenance, and mold injection operations.
Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques for troubleshooting processing and mechanical issues.
Experience in production, machine operating, or manufacturing technician roles.
Comfort working with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Visual Operating Procedures (VOP).
Attention to detail and strong documentation skills for recording process changes.
Ability to adapt to changing production priorities and perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment
This role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility designed to support consistent production quality and employee comfort. The position operates on 1st and 3rd shifts, with typical hours of 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. You will work around injection molding machines, molds, auxiliary equipment, forklifts, hoists, and hand tools, following established safety procedures and production standards in a clean, organized, and process-driven environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
