Job Description

This role focuses on MIG and flux-core welding on stainless and carbon steel pressure vessels, with the opportunity to be trained and developed into a TIG welder. You will work in a job shop environment on a variety of custom projects, contributing to the fabrication of high-quality pressure vessels and related components.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG and flux-core welding on stainless and carbon steel components for pressure vessels.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols to complete jobs accurately to specification.

  • Weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead) on a variety of parts and assemblies.

  • Work with steel ranging from approximately 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch thickness while maintaining quality and productivity expectations.

  • Assist in the fabrication of components as needed, including fitting and preparation for welding.

  • Follow established procedures, safety practices, and quality standards throughout all welding operations.

  • Collaborate with a team of welders and shop personnel to complete projects on time and to required standards.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and care for company-provided tools and equipment.

  • Adapt to working on different projects and vessel types as job orders change.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of MIG or flux-core welding experience, or a formal welding certification.

  • Proficiency in MIG welding on stainless and carbon steel.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols accurately.

  • Ability to weld confidently and consistently in all positions.

  • Experience working with steel thicknesses from approximately 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch.

  • Basic fabrication skills to support welding and assembly work.

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds safely as part of daily duties.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small welding team in a job shop environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Riverdale, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
