Job Title: Maintenance Helper

Job Description

The Maintenance Helper supports daily facility and yard operations by performing basic repairs, groundskeeping, and equipment upkeep. This role assists with tasks such as repairing windows and doors, changing lights and switches, and replacing tires on yard machinery, while receiving hands-on training in industrial maintenance, including HVAC and refrigeration.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day maintenance tasks across the facility and yard.

  • Repair and maintain windows and doors in dock and facility areas.

  • Perform yard maintenance, including mowing, cutting, weeding, and general groundskeeping.

  • Change lights, switches, and light bulbs throughout the facility as needed.

  • Replace tires on yard machinery and assist with basic equipment upkeep.

  • Support basic mechanical maintenance activities, including lubrication and oil changes.

  • Use hand tools and power tools safely to perform repairs and preventive maintenance.

  • Assist with basic facilities repairs, such as door hinges, simple toilet plumbing, and minor troubleshooting.

  • Help perform preventive maintenance on industrial equipment under the guidance of experienced technicians.

  • Train and develop skills in industrial maintenance, including HVAC and refrigeration systems.

  • Follow safety procedures while working in both indoor refrigerated areas and outdoor industrial yard environments.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store tools and equipment after use.

Essential Skills

  • Basic mechanical knowledge related to general maintenance tasks.

  • Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools, including wrenches.

  • Experience or familiarity with basic yard and grounds maintenance such as mowing, cutting, and weeding.

  • Foundational facilities maintenance knowledge, including changing light bulbs, working with door hardware, and performing simple plumbing tasks.

  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting on equipment with guidance.

  • Comfort working with mechanical components such as tires, lubrication systems, and oil changes.

  • Willingness and ability to learn industrial maintenance, including HVAC and refrigeration.

  • Capability to work in both indoor refrigerated areas and outdoor industrial yard settings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous groundskeeping or landscaping experience.

  • Prior exposure to facilities maintenance or industrial environments.

  • Interest in developing a career in industrial maintenance, HVAC, or refrigeration.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a maintenance team.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
