Job Title: Quality Control Inspector
Job Description
The Quality Control Inspector performs detailed inspections and testing of raw materials, in‑process production, purchased components, outside processing, and finished products in a metal machining and manufacturing environment. This role follows established procedures and quality standards to ensure products meet customer requirements, internal specifications, and applicable regulations, while supporting continuous improvement of inspection methods and quality practices.
Responsibilities
Perform inspections and testing of raw materials, in‑process production, purchased components, outside processing, and finished goods in accordance with established procedures and quality plans.
Support the development and implementation of quality standards, inspection methods, and testing procedures to ensure compliance with customer requirements, internal specifications, and relevant regulations.
Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, scales, and other inspection and testing equipment to verify product dimensions and quality.
Read and interpret prints, routings, drawings, work orders, and work instructions, applying appropriate quality discipline throughout the inspection process.
Enforce departmental procedures for the care, control, and monitoring of inspection equipment, including check‑in/check‑out processes, and maintain required records.
Perform calibration of employee gaging and inspection tools in accordance with current NIST standards and internal procedures.
Conduct certification of company and employee gages against externally certified gages, ensuring accurate and complete documentation.
Create Material Rejection Reports in accordance with departmental procedures, clearly documenting nonconformances and communicating rejection reasons to operators and team leads.
Inspect and test materials and products according to work orders, drawings, specifications, and quality plans, documenting inspection results and providing clear feedback to operators.
Assist in training new employees on inspection techniques, sampling methods, and process control procedures to support consistent product quality.
Support the investigation of product defects and customer complaints under the guidance of quality leadership, contributing to root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience as a Quality Control Inspector in a metal machining or manufacturing environment.
Hands‑on experience with quality control and inspection processes in a production setting.
Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and scales.
Ability to read and interpret engineering prints, drawings, routings, work orders, and work instructions.
Working knowledge of quality inspection methods, standards, and documentation practices.
Ability to follow established procedures and quality discipline with strong attention to detail.
Capability to document inspection results clearly and accurately and communicate findings to production personnel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
Experience using a Keyence Vision System.
Familiarity with microhardness testing, including Vickers and Rockwell “C” scale methods.
Experience with metrology practices and calibration of measuring equipment.
Understanding of NIST‑traceable calibration standards and practices.
Strong communication skills to explain inspection results and rejection reasons to operators and team leads.
Ability to assist with training others on inspection techniques, sampling methods, and process control procedures.

Work Environment
This role operates in a machine shop environment within a metal machining and manufacturing facility. You will work around production equipment, precision measuring tools, and inspection instruments on or near the shop floor. The position involves hands‑on inspection of components and finished products, frequent use of gauges and metrology equipment, and collaboration with production teams in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
