Job Title: Construction Pipefitting and Welding Foreman

26-30/hr

Job Description

This role leads field crews on commercial new construction projects, overseeing carbon steel pipe welding and pipefitting activities from layout through installation. The foreman coordinates welders and fitters, ensures accurate blueprint interpretation, and drives safe, high-quality mechanical and piping installations on site.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise crews of stick welders and pipe fitters on commercial new construction projects.

  • Lay out jobs from blueprints and construction plans, ensuring accurate placement of piping and materials.

  • Coordinate the assembly and installation of carbon steel pipe and associated piping systems.

  • Oversee stick welding work on primarily carbon steel pipe, ensuring weld quality and adherence to specifications.

  • Direct and support the installation of PVC, cast iron, and other mechanical piping components.

  • Ensure proper pipe fitting, plumbing-related connections, and soldering tasks are completed to code and project standards.

  • Organize daily work activities, assign tasks, and monitor progress to meet project timelines.

  • Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and compliance with safety and construction standards.

  • Communicate job requirements and installation plans clearly to crew members.

  • Promote and enforce safe work practices on the construction site.

Essential Skills

  • Proven ability to lead and supervise a crew in a construction environment.

  • Hands-on experience with carbon steel pipe installation and stick welding.

  • Strong pipefitting skills, including layout, assembly, and installation of piping systems.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from construction blueprints.

  • Experience with commercial new construction mechanical and piping installations.

  • Practical knowledge of installing PVC and cast iron piping.

  • Competence in plumbing-related tasks and soldering in a construction setting.

  • Effective communication skills for directing and coordinating crew activities.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in mechanical piping and plumbing systems on commercial projects.

  • Experience organizing and sequencing work for multiple welders and pipe fitters.

  • Strong problem-solving skills for addressing installation and layout challenges in the field.

  • Ability to collaborate with other trades and site personnel to keep work on schedule.

Work Environment

This position is based on active commercial construction sites with a focus on mechanical and piping installations. Work involves hands-on tasks such as stick welding, pipe fitting, and installing carbon steel, PVC, and cast iron piping systems. The role operates in typical construction conditions, including exposure to outdoor weather, varying temperatures, and active jobsite noise. Standard construction attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are required at all times while on site.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spartanburg, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
