Job Title: Welder and Fitter

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Structural Welder to support the repair and refurbishment of large-scale mining equipment. This role involves working on massive mining excavators inside a large, swamp-cooled fabrication bay, performing structural repairs caused by normal wear and tear from heavy equipment use.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural welding repairs on large mining excavators and related heavy equipment.

  • Repair cracks, fractures, and worn components resulting from equipment operation.

  • Weld a variety of materials, including AR400 abrasion-resistant steel, as well as mild/softer steels.

  • Gouge out defective or failed welds as part of repair and rebuild work.

  • Utilize fabrication skills daily to fit, modify, and reinforce structural components and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols.

  • Maintain quality and accuracy while working on critical structural components.

  • Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and support teams to coordinate repairs and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a structural welder in heavy equipment, mining, or industrial environments.

  • Proficiency welding abrasion-resistant steels (AR400) and mild steel.

  • Experience with carbon arc gouging or similar weld removal techniques.

  • Strong fabrication skills, including layout, fit-up, and structural reinforcement.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and workmanship.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a large bay environment and around oversized equipment.

  • Experience with oxy acetylene torch for cutting and heating steel.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mesa, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $30.50/hr.
