Description
Our client, a growing engineering services organization based in Greensboro, is seeking an Interim CFO to provide strategic financial leadership, stabilize and optimize finance operations, and support executive decision-making during a critical transition period. This role is fully onsite and will oversee a team of 10–15 finance and accounting professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team on financial planning, performance, and growth initiatives
Lead day-to-day finance and accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling; provide actionable insights to drive profitability and cash flow optimization
Evaluate and strengthen internal controls, processes, and reporting infrastructure
Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring alignment with GAAP standards
Drive system optimization and reporting enhancements within NetSuite
Partner cross-functionally with operations, project management, and leadership to align financial goals with business objectives
Support audit readiness, lender reporting, and potential strategic initiatives (e.g., scaling, system upgrades, process automation)
Coach and develop a team of 10–15 accounting/finance professionals, ensuring high performance and accountability
Requirements
Requirements:
Proven experience as a CFO or senior finance leader in an engineering, professional services, or project-based environment
Hands-on expertise with NetSuite (required)
Experience with SuiteProjects (strongly preferred)
Strong understanding of project-based accounting, revenue recognition, and utilization metrics
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and improve processes in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Track record of driving financial visibility, operational efficiency, and scalable reporting
CPA or MBA preferred
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Strategic yet hands-on leader who can quickly assess and improve finance functions
Comfortable operating onsite and working closely with leadership and operational teams
Experience stepping into interim or transformation-focused roles is a plus
Ability to bring structure, clarity, and actionable insights during periods of change
