Job Title: Yard Technician / Laborer
Job Description
The Yard Technician / Laborer supports daily operations in a storage yard and shop environment by safely moving materials and equipment, loading and unloading trucks, and assisting with the setup and preparation of mobile trailers. This entry-level role offers a hands-on pathway to learn the trade, develop carpentry and construction skills, and grow into a Set Up Technician position while working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Responsibilities
Move materials and equipment safely around the storage yard and within the shop using appropriate tools and methods.
Stage materials and equipment for upcoming jobs to ensure efficient workflow and timely project completion.
Load and unload trucks with materials, furniture, and equipment while following safe lifting and handling practices.
Assist with building, assembling, and installing furniture inside mobile trailers and other structures as needed.
Support the setup and preparation of mobile trailers, learning the full process and trade to progress toward a Set Up Technician role.
Use hand and power tools to perform general carpentry, construction, and repair tasks as directed.
Work outdoors in various weather conditions to move, organize, and maintain yard inventory and equipment.
Operate with a strong safety mindset, following all yard, shop, and equipment safety procedures.
Apply mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot minor issues with tools, equipment, and materials.
Use basic computer skills to complete simple tasks such as logging work, checking assignments, or accessing job-related information.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in both the yard and the shop.
Demonstrate a flexible, "do it all" attitude by assisting with a wide range of tasks as operational needs arise.
Essential Skills
General construction experience.
Carpentry skills with familiarity in construction trades.
Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
Mechanical aptitude for working with tools, equipment, and basic repairs.
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Basic computer knowledge for simple work-related tasks.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Capability to perform physical labor, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials and equipment.
Strong safety awareness and adherence to safety procedures.
Flexible, proactive mindset with a willingness to handle a variety of tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
HVAC technician skills are a plus.
Experience working in a yard, warehouse, or construction site environment is beneficial.
Experience assembling or installing furniture is advantageous.
Comfort working with mobile trailers or modular structures is helpful.
Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate tasks with others.

Work Environment
This role is based out of a branch yard and shop environment, with a home base at a local facility. Standard hours are approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays during peak seasons. You work both indoors in the shop and outdoors in the storage yard, frequently exposed to the elements while moving materials and equipment. The position involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, and basic equipment for carpentry, construction, and material handling. The environment is active and physically demanding, requiring safe lifting, carrying, and maneuvering of materials. Dress typically includes practical work attire suitable for construction and yard work, along with any required personal protective equipment as directed by safety guidelines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dacula, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
