Job Title: Fabricator
Job Description
This role focuses on fabricating sheet metal components used in the production of lighting products. You will operate and set up fabrication equipment such as lasers and punch press machines, interpret blueprints and work orders, and ensure each work piece meets precise quality standards using measuring tools and visual inspection.
Responsibilities
Fabricate sheet metal components for lighting products in accordance with work order specifications.
Operate fabrication equipment, including laser machines and punch press machines, to cut and form sheet metal.
Perform machine setups and adjustments to support efficient and accurate production.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine fabrication requirements.
Measure and inspect work pieces using tape measures, calipers, gauges, and other tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
Visually and physically examine work pieces to ensure they meet quality and finish standards.
Use hand tools, grinders, and other fabrication equipment to complete, deburr, and refine parts as needed.
Follow established fabrication processes and production procedures in a fabrication machine shop environment.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to all safety guidelines while operating machinery.
Essential Skills
Proven experience fabricating sheet metal in a production or fabrication machine shop environment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders accurately.
Proficiency using calipers, tape measures, gauges, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions.
Hands-on experience operating fabrication equipment such as lasers, punch presses, and press brakes.
Practical knowledge of fabrication processes involving sheet metal, including forming, fitting, and assembly.
Ability to use hand tools and grinders safely and effectively for finishing and adjustments.
Strong attention to detail to ensure parts meet specifications and quality standards.
Capability to work with materials such as stainless steel and other sheet metals.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in a production environment focused on lighting or similar manufactured products.
Background using a variety of fabrication equipment in a machine shop setting.
Comfort reading and working from detailed blueprints and technical documentation.
Familiarity with grinding and finishing techniques to achieve precise dimensions and surface quality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet production goals.
Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn additional fabrication processes and equipment.

Work Environment
This position is based in an indoor, climate-controlled fabrication machine shop focused on sheet metal production for lighting products. You will work on 2nd shift from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., operating lasers, punch presses, press brakes, and other fabrication equipment. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and consistent production processes, with access to a full range of tools and measuring instruments needed to perform precise fabrication work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
