Job Description
This role focuses on full commercial plumbing installations for private-sector new construction projects throughout the Bay Area. You will work on underground, rough-in, and finish phases of construction, installing and testing complete plumbing systems while collaborating closely with the on-site foreman and other trades. The position requires a journeyman-level commercial plumber who can work independently, interpret blueprints, and deliver high-quality work on schedule.
Responsibilities
Install complete waste, drain, and vent systems for commercial new construction projects.
Install domestic water lines and related piping in underground, rough, and finish phases.
Work with a variety of piping materials including cast iron, plastic, and copper.
Install, set, and connect a wide range of plumbing fixtures and related components.
Install and work with various types of valves, ensuring correct placement and operation.
Perform soldering and brazing on copper and other appropriate piping systems.
Install insulation and perform proper strapping and support for piping systems.
Conduct testing of plumbing systems to verify integrity, performance, and code compliance.
Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to plan and execute installations accurately.
Follow a defined multi-step process to complete work efficiently and safely.
Coordinate daily with the on-site foreman and work effectively with a team of 2–10 crew members.
Work independently on full commercial installs, taking initiative and leading tasks without constant direction.
Maintain and use personal plumbing hand tools in a safe and professional manner.
Adapt to different project phases and locations within the Bay Area as needed.
Essential Skills
Minimum 2 years of commercial plumbing experience.
Hands-on experience with commercial new construction or tenant improvement projects.
Ability to complete full commercial plumbing installs independently at a journeyman level.
Proficiency installing waste, drain, and vent systems, as well as water lines.
Experience working with cast iron, plastic, copper, and similar piping materials.
Skilled in soldering and brazing for commercial plumbing applications.
Ability to install and work with various types of valves and plumbing fixtures.
Strong ability to read and understand blueprints and construction drawings.
Capability to follow a structured multi-step process to complete assigned work.
Demonstrated ability to take the lead on tasks and contribute to leading a team on site.
Must provide and use own plumbing hand tools.
Reliable transportation to travel directly to job sites within the Bay Area.
Flexibility to start shifts between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. as required by job sites.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience performing full commercial plumbing installations from underground through finish.
Experience working on private-sector commercial projects.
Comfort working under the direction of a foreman while also taking initiative on site.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in installation and testing.
Ability to collaborate with a team of multiple field employees on active job sites.

Work Environment
The company is based in Hayward and performs commercial plumbing work on projects located within approximately 30–50 miles of the shop, primarily across five Bay Area counties, including current projects in Emeryville, the East Bay, and San Francisco. Plumbers typically spend about 1–2 months on each project, depending on the phase of the work. On site, you will report to a foreman and collaborate with a crew of approximately 2–10 field employees. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the expectation that you can flex your start time between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. depending on the general contractor and specific job site requirements. You will drive your own vehicle directly to job sites; while it is uncommon to visit multiple sites or the shop in a single day, standard mileage reimbursement applies when that occurs. The work is field-based on active construction sites, requiring appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment consistent with commercial construction standards.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
