Position Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Duration: 6+ months with high possibilities of extension

On-Site: Reading, MA

Pay Range: $55-66/hr on W2

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will develop innovative and complex hardware systems for our emerging robotic solutions and scale designs to production. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience designing and troubleshooting custom robotics systems from the ground up and at scale. They enjoy analytical problem solving and possess practical knowledge of robotic design, fabrication, assembly, and rapid prototyping. They thrive in an interdisciplinary environment and have led the development of complex electro-mechanical systems.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Work with an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production including specification, design, prototyping, validation, and testing

• Own the detailed design and performance of robotics systems

• Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality organizations, and vendors to ensure a smooth product launch

• Write functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures

• Exhibit role model behaviors of mechanical engineering best practices, thorough and predictive engineering analysis, and cradle-to-grave ownership

• Design and adapt holistic hardware solutions for ambiguous problems with fluid requirements

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD software, including best practices for part design and advanced assemblies

• Experience leading the mechanical detailed design of electro-mechanical systems

• Hands-on experience crafting proof-of-concept models and prototypes

• Thorough understanding and application of principles, theories, and concepts in mechanical engineering for product design

• Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

• Experience communicating technical concepts to leadership and writing technical documentation

• Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment

• Experience with full lifecycle product development

• Experience evaluating design, performance, and logistical tradeoffs for hardware systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production

• Experience managing technical projects

• Experience designing complex mechanical products and equipment at volume

• Knowledge of SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

• Experience launching products at scale

• Demonstrated collaboration with Electrical and Controls Engineering teams

• Proficiency documenting designs in accordance with ANSI Y-14.5 standards

• Experience designing and debugging tooled components (sheet metal, cast, injection molded, etc.)

• Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software and ECO processes
