Job Title: CNC Milling Setup Machinist

Job Description

As a CNC Milling Setup Machinist, you will regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and engagement of cut. You will utilize edge finders, indicators, and probes to find machine work offsets and work with Fanuc and Heidenhain controls. Your role includes setting up and running Mikron, Doosan, and Fadal CNC milling machines, interpreting blueprints, and applying GD&T. You will ensure optimal cutting techniques, speeds, and feeds, and utilize micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify measurements.

Responsibilities

  • Regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and engagement of cut.

  • Utilize edge finders, indicators, and probes to find machine work offsets.

  • Work with Fanuc and Heidenhain controls.

  • Set up and run Mikron, Doosan, and Fadal CNC milling machines.

  • Interpret blueprints and apply GD&T.

  • Ensure optimal cutting techniques, speeds, and feeds.

  • Utilize micrometers, calipers, and gauges for precise measurements.

  • Understand machine deviation versus cutter or holding problems.

  • Conduct First Article Inspection and solve routine problems with advanced problem-solving ability.

  • Manage job travelers, material status sheets, and use Vantage and Epicor systems.

Essential Skills

  • 5 years of experience in CNC milling setup and operation.

  • Proficiency in Fanuc and Heidenhain controls.

  • Experience with Mikron, Doosan, and Fadal milling machines.

  • Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.

  • Skill in using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

  • Ability to conduct First Article Inspections.

  • Problem-solving skills with some advanced capabilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.

  • Experience with job travelers, material status sheets, and Vantage systems.

  • Knowledge of CTQ’s and S/W collection.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $34.00/hr.
