Job Title: Diesel Mechanic $27-$33

Job Description

This role maintains, diagnoses, and repairs a wide range of company vehicles and equipment, including tractors, trailers, vans, cars, diesel engines, forklifts, and pallet jacks. You ensure all work meets established company standards and complies with applicable federal regulations while performing both corrective repairs and preventative maintenance. You also support field operations by responding to vehicle breakdowns that occur outside the facility and restoring equipment to safe, reliable working condition.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and diesel-related issues on company vehicles such as tractors, trailers, vans, cars, forklifts, and pallet jacks.

  • Perform repairs on vehicles and equipment in accordance with established company standards and applicable federal regulations.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance on vehicles, including services such as oil changes, tire rotations, and other scheduled maintenance tasks.

  • Use an electronic diagnostic tool, accessed via an iPad, to identify and resolve equipment and vehicle issues.

  • Respond to vehicle breakdowns that occur outside the facility, diagnose the issue on-site, and perform repairs or equipment swaps as needed to minimize downtime.

  • Inspect vehicles and equipment after repairs and maintenance to verify proper operation and safety.

  • Maintain and use personal tools in a safe and organized manner while performing all assigned tasks.

  • Follow company guidelines, safety procedures, and maintenance schedules to ensure reliable fleet performance.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of previous mechanic experience.

  • Proven troubleshooting experience with vehicles and mechanical systems.

  • Ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines and related components.

  • Mechanical aptitude with experience working on vehicles and equipment such as tractors, trailers, vans, cars, forklifts, and pallet jacks.

  • Ability to use an electronic diagnostic tool via an iPad.

  • Must provide and use personal mechanic tools.

  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to company standards and federal regulations.

  • Capability to work both in the shop and in the field when responding to breakdowns.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical or trade degree in a related field is a plus.

  • Experience performing preventative maintenance such as oil changes and tire rotations.

  • Comfort using mobile technology and diagnostic software.

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to equipment reliability.

Work Environment

You work both inside the facility and outdoors, handling maintenance and repair tasks wherever vehicles and equipment are located. You regularly use an iPad-based electronic diagnostic tool alongside your own set of mechanic tools. The environment is active and practical, requiring comfort working around vehicles, equipment, and varying weather conditions when responding to breakdowns outside the facility.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cincinnati, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
