Our client, a leading logistics and transportation organization, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Switcher Operator to join their team. As a Switcher Operator, you will be an essential part of the yard operations team supporting efficient trailer movements and warehouse flow. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong safety awareness, excellent communication skills, and a proactive attitude, which will align successfully within the organization.
Job Title: Switcher Operator
Location: Livonia, MI
Pay Range: $25.00/hr.
Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
What's the Job?
Safely move trailers to and from dock doors, staging areas, and parking zones
Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on yard equipment to ensure safe operation
Communicate with warehouse staff, supervisors, and dispatch to prioritize trailer movements
Monitor dock flow and proactively reposition trailers to minimize delays
Secure trailers by chocking wheels and ensuring proper placement at docks
What's Needed?
Previous switcher/yard jockey experience required
Valid driver’s license required
Strong awareness of safety practices in a warehouse/yard environment
Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active setting
Good communication and teamwork skills
