Shipping and Receiving Associate - Frankfort, IL

7AM-3:30PM MONDAY-FRIDAY

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Shipping and Receiving Associate with 2-3 years of experience in operating sit-down forklifts and manual data entry. This role involves supporting the current Clerk and assisting with various shipping and receiving tasks.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in delivery drivers, verify shipment paperwork, and direct them to appropriate dock areas.

• Prepare and process shipping documents including bills of lading, packing slips, and delivery logs.

• Maintain shipment records using Microsoft Excel, Word, and handwritten logs.

• Operate a sit-down forklift to move, stage, or load/unload materials as required.

• Communicate with carriers and internal departments to coordinate pickups and deliveries.

• Monitor dock activity and ensure timely loading/unloading by warehouse staff.

• Resolve discrepancies in documentation and escalate issues when necessary.

• Assist with filing, data entry, and generating reports for management.

• Maintain a clean and organized workspace and ensure compliance with company procedures.

Essential Skills

• 2-3 years of experience in shipping/receiving or logistics support.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

• Strong communication and customer service skills, especially with drivers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Organizational and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience in warehouse inventory, inventory control, order picking, packaging, and material handling.

Work Environment

The work environment is generally clean and consists of a shop with 20-25 people including machinists, welders, fabricators, and mechanics. This hands-on role requires manual dexterity and physical stamina, and fosters a team-oriented culture. The position is on the 1st shift, from 7am to 3:30pm, Monday-Friday, with occasional weekends.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Frankfort, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
