Job Title: Chief Building Maintenance Engineer Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Building Engineering Manager to mentor an existing employee in facilities maintenance. This temporary position ranges from three months to a year and offers both full-time and part-time options, suitable for someone who is willing to work on a limited schedule. The primary goal is to guide the employee in client interactions and effective site management.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and train an employee in client interaction and site management.

  • Oversee facilities maintenance operations on a customer site.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical components, VFDs, plumbing, boilers, and HVAC units.

  • Respond to customer requests for various tasks, including electrical and plumbing work.

  • Navigate through different client personalities and ensure a positive interaction.

  • Document maintenance activities and communicate effectively with clients.

Essential Skills

  • 15+ years of experience in building/facility maintenance.

  • Proficiency in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems.

  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

  • Ability to teach and mentor junior staff.

  • Personable demeanor to work effectively with clients.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Extensive management experience.

  • Understanding of property management.

  • Experience with motor controls and refrigeration.

  • Certifications in HVAC or EPA.

  • Knowledge of Central Plant/AC units and carpentry.

Work Environment

Work on site at a high-profile building with a professional office environment. The culture emphasizes customer satisfaction, ensuring client requests are always addressed positively. The team consists of two Building Engineers and one Building Chief, supported by national staff. Dress code includes steel-toed boots, jeans, and a polo shirt. The role operates Monday to Friday, with staggered shifts from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm and 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, with the third shift typically on call.

This is a Contract position based out of Houston, Texas

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
