Job Title: Saw Operator – 3rd Shift
Job Description
This role is a 3rd shift saw operator position responsible for cutting metal materials to precise customer specifications using band saws and metal saws in a busy service center environment. You will handle aviation- and marine-grade metals, operate forklifts and overhead material handling equipment, and ensure all orders meet strict quality, safety, and delivery standards.

Responsibilities
Operate one or more plate and bar saws as a subject-matter expert, including band saws and metal saws, to cut materials to exact customer specifications.
Process customer orders according to cut-to-size requirements, ensuring accuracy, quality, and on-time completion without exception.
Pull, stage, and prepare material to be processed at the saw, following work orders and production schedules.
Retrieve material from plate racks and storage areas using a forklift and other material handling equipment.
Measure material to exact requirements using tools such as tape measures, micrometers, calipers, and similar precision instruments.
Record and enter exact specifications and measurements onto appropriate forms for data entry into the computer system.
Safely and properly operate cranes, fork trucks, and rigging equipment, consistently applying safe rigging practices.
Assist with packaging finished orders, preparing shipments, and supporting receiving activities as needed.
Participate in weekly inventory cycle counts and help maintain accurate stock levels.
Use precision and attention to detail when operating tools and equipment to maintain high quality standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift, including routine housekeeping tasks around the saws and material storage areas.
Follow all safety rules, regulations, and quality standards, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to company policies and procedures.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding order status, equipment issues, and any quality or safety concerns.
Work independently on assigned tasks while being receptive to direction and feedback from leadership.
Demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to maintaining positive working relationships with coworkers, customers, and suppliers.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 1 year of saw operation experience in aviation or a similar manufacturing field.
At least 1+ years of manufacturing or warehouse material handling and forklift experience.
Two or more years of related experience or training working with saws and/or machinery in a production or service center environment.
Experience operating band saws, metal saws, and similar cutting equipment.
Ability to safely operate forklifts, cranes, and apply safe rigging practices.
Proficiency in reading and using tape measures, micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
Ability to accurately read, calculate, and interpret numbers, measurements, and data for cut-to-size orders.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Good written and oral communication skills for documenting specifications and coordinating with team members.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills to handle multiple orders and priorities.
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while accepting direction and feedback.
High level of integrity and professionalism in daily work and interactions.
Strong work ethic and self-motivation to meet production and quality goals.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
One or more years of experience in the metals service center industry is strongly preferred.
Experience operating Metlsaw or similar automated saw machinery is a significant advantage.
Comfort working with aviation-grade metals (2,000 and 7,000 series) and marine-grade metals (5,000 series).
Ability to learn and follow detailed work instructions and company procedures.
Capability to perform basic computer data entry related to work orders and production records.
Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods, frequently bend, climb, kneel, crawl, twist, and balance during material handling and machine operation.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally, and to push or pull between 25–50 pounds regularly.
Comfort working in a hands-on, fast-paced industrial environment with frequent use of hand tools and power equipment.

Work Environment
This position is based in a non-climate-controlled yet well-maintained warehouse and service center. The facility processes aviation-grade and marine-grade metals using band saws, metal saws, and specialized equipment such as Metlsaw machines. You will work primarily on 3rd shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Standing, walking, and manual handling of materials make up most of the shift, with frequent use of hands for handling, measuring, and operating tools. The environment includes regular forklift and crane operation, as well as rigging and staging of heavy metal plates and bars. While the building is not climate controlled, heaters provide warmth during winter months, and in the summer, large fans and open doors help circulate air and maintain a comfortable working atmosphere. The operation is relatively small locally, with a modest-sized team that fosters a more personal and supportive work setting. Appropriate industrial attire and personal protective equipment are expected to ensure safety and comfort on the shop floor
