Packaging Machine Operator Role in Memphis!
Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Machine Operator to join our team. This role involves working with HMI screens to communicate, diagnose, and run the machines. The successful candidate will be trained on lockout/tagout procedures and will assist in various tasks related to machine operation, maintenance communication, and quality control.
Responsibilities
Work with HMI screens to communicate, diagnose, and operate machines.
Perform lockout/tagout procedures for machine sterilization once a week.
Communicate machine issues to technicians and perform necessary shutdowns.
Clean and sterilize machinery weekly.
Clear out jams and perform emergency stops as needed.
Operate filler machines and handle jams.
Understand machine operations and identify issues.
Operate check weighers, metal detectors, and x-ray machines in packaging.
Manually operate and mix ingredients in the brine and blending area.
Operate case packer and palletizer in the packaging area.
Perform quality checks on seals, code dates, and packaging.
Load materials for packaging, including cups, film, and boxes.
Maintain a strong understanding of all machines and processes.
Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
Lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
Essential Skills
3+ years of machine operator experience in an industrial environment.
Experience with changeovers, preventative maintenance (PM), and HMI.
2+ years of HMI experience, including monitoring and troubleshooting.
Strong attention to detail and safety consciousness.
Team player with a strong work ethic.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Packaging experience is a plus.
Manufacturing experience is required.
Food industry experience is a plus.
Experience in food, canning, liquid, milk, and cosmetic industries is beneficial.

Work Environment
This role is in a UNION environment with three 10-minute breaks in a 12-hour shift, including a combined 30-minute lunch and break period. The work areas vary in temperature, with the filler room being around 50-60 degrees, the upstairs area being cooler at around 40-50 degrees, the packaging area being dry and temperature-controlled, and the processing area being very hot with cooling areas available. The position is a 4p - 4a shift with expected overtime, including weekends and off days. The role does not rotate and involves standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.

This is a Contract position based out of Memphis, Tennessee.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.18/hr.
