Description
We are looking for a meticulous and driven Staff Accountant to join a highly regarded non-profit in Santa Monica, California. This long-term contract position offers a unique opportunity to support impactful initiatives that promote global prosperity through economic, health, and policy advancements. In this role, you will play a key part in the organization’s financial operations, focusing on month-end close processes, fixed asset accounting, and compliance with non-profit accounting standards.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations.
• Manage and track fixed assets, particularly those associated with a significant construction project.
• Ensure accurate and timely accruals and depreciation entries to support financial reporting.
• Collaborate with senior finance staff to analyze and prepare financial reports.
• Maintain compliance with non-profit accounting principles and standards.
• Provide support for internal and external audits, including gathering necessary documentation.
• Assist with ad hoc accounting projects and process improvements as needed.
• Work closely with leadership to address financial inquiries and provide insights.
• Facilitate cross-training efforts to ensure continuity during transitions.
Requirements • A minimum of 3–5 years of accounting experience at the staff or senior level, with a focus on detail-oriented work.
• Proficiency in NetSuite is required, with hands-on experience in its functionalities.
• In-depth knowledge of fixed asset accounting, accruals, and month-end close procedures.
• Familiarity with non-profit accounting practices and compliance standards is essential.
• Strong understanding of account reconciliations and depreciation methods.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with leadership.
• Availability to work onsite in Santa Monica, California, with flexibility for hybrid arrangements.
• Comfortable managing responsibilities within a mission-driven and collaborative environment.
