Job Title: Fabrication Technician (Welder & Fabricator)
Job Description
This role focuses on fabricating and assembling custom metal products that support advanced unmanned aerial systems. You will work in a clean, climate-controlled aerospace environment, using a variety of welding, cutting, and fabrication tools to produce high-quality components. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy a fast-paced, hands-on maker culture and take pride in precision craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
Fabricate and assemble custom metal products and components for unmanned aerial systems using various welding and cutting techniques.
Set up, run, and operate a CNC plasma cutting machine to cut metal parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Perform MIG, TIG, and Arc welding on multiple alloys of aluminum and steel to produce strong, clean, and accurate welds.
Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to ensure parts meet design and quality requirements.
Use hand and power tools safely and effectively for cutting, grinding, fitting, and finishing fabricated parts.
Inspect fabricated parts and assemblies for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications, making adjustments as needed.
Handle and move materials and finished products, including operating a forklift after completing required training.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
Collaborate with team members, engineers, and other technicians to troubleshoot fabrication challenges and improve processes.
Follow all safety procedures, shop protocols, and quality standards throughout the fabrication and welding process.
Essential Skills
Proven ability to run and operate a CNC plasma cutting machine.
Previous experience with MIG welding on aluminum and steel alloys.
Previous experience with TIG welding on aluminum and steel alloys.
Previous experience with Arc welding on multiple alloys of aluminum and steel.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints accurately.
Previous experience working safely with hand tools and power tools in a fabrication or shop environment.
High school diploma or equivalent education.
Ability to stand for long periods while working in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to lift 50 lbs frequently and remain on your feet for a full 8-hour shift.
Ability to successfully complete forklift operation training.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous machining experience is highly desirable.
Previous forklift operation experience is a plus.
CAD experience, such as working with SolidWorks or similar design software, is preferred.
Interest in working with stainless steel, aluminum, and steel in a fabrication setting.
Comfort working with power tools and machine tools in a production environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise work.
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative, hands-on team.

Work Environment
You will work in a clean, climate-controlled aerospace facility designed for precision fabrication and welding. The shop uses CNC plasma cutting machines, MIG, TIG, and Arc welding equipment, as well as a variety of hand and power tools and material handling equipment such as forklifts. The role typically involves standing for most of an 8-hour shift, frequently lifting up to 50 lbs, and working at a steady pace to meet production needs. The setting supports a professional, safety-conscious atmosphere where proper use of tools, equipment, and protective gear is expected at all times.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, AL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $32.00/hr.
