Crane and Hoist Technician

$25 - $35+/hr | Indianapolis, IN

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and periodic inspections on overhead cranes, hoists, rigging, and related lifting equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.

  • Identify wear, safety issues, and potential failures, and clearly recommend appropriate corrective actions.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance to optimize equipment performance and minimize unplanned downtime.

  • Accurately document inspections, findings, maintenance, and repairs in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.

  • Install, assemble, and commission overhead cranes, hoists, trolleys, control systems, and auxiliary equipment at customer sites.

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical components such as motors, brakes, gearboxes, bearings, and wire rope.

  • Diagnose and repair electrical components including electrical controls, contactors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and pendant or radio controls.

  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.

  • Perform emergency breakdown repairs as needed to restore equipment to safe operating condition.

  • Provide field service support at client locations, ensuring professional communication and high-quality technical service.

  • Follow OSHA standards and company safety policies while performing all work.

  • Use computer-based tools and software to enter service reports, track work, and access technical documentation.

Work Environment

  • This is a full-time role with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional overtime as needed. You will spend much of your time at client sites, so regular travel is part of the position.

  • The role involves a mix of walking, standing, sitting, bending, driving, reading, and communicating throughout the workday.

  • You will work in various industrial environments and conditions, which may include manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and other operational sites.

  • The position requires comfort working around heavy equipment, electrical systems, and active production areas while consistently following safety procedures and site-specific requirements.

This is a Permanent position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $72800.00/yr.
