Field Technician – Hay Covering
Job Description
The Field Technician – Hay Covering works on customer sites to cover and secure large stacks of hay bales using heavy tarps. This is a physically demanding, outdoor role that involves repetitive lifting, climbing, pulling tarps, and working at heights in all weather conditions. The position requires strong work ethic, stamina, and reliability, and offers consistent work with opportunities for overtime and performance-based bonuses.
Responsibilities
Travel to customer sites to cover and secure large stacks of hay bales with heavy tarps.
Lift, pull, and maneuver large tarps over hay stacks safely and efficiently.
Climb on and around stacked hay while maintaining safe footing and awareness of surroundings.
Work outdoors throughout the day in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, dust, rain, and dry conditions.
Move from one hay stack to another, completing tarp installations and adjustments as needed.
Drive between locations as required by the daily schedule and customer needs.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to prevent injuries and protect coworkers and property.
Maintain dependable attendance and be available for long workdays, especially during harvest season.
Adapt to a schedule driven by weather conditions and customer requirements, including early mornings, extended days, and weekends.
Perform heavy manual labor throughout the day with consistent effort and attention to quality.
Essential Skills
Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods.
Capability to lift, pull, and maneuver large tarps repeatedly throughout the day.
Comfort working at heights while climbing on and around stacked hay safely.
Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, dust, rain, and dry environments.
Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
Ability to follow safety procedures and work safely in physically demanding conditions.
Comfort with physically demanding, non-desk, non-indoor work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Valid driver’s license preferred.
Agricultural experience is a plus.
Construction, general labor, production, or similar hands-on experience is a plus.
Willingness to work long hours, especially during harvest season.
Ability to adapt to schedules driven by weather and customer needs.

Work Environment
Work is performed entirely outdoors in all conditions, including rain, cold, heat, wind, dust, and dry weather. Field Technicians move frequently from one hay stack to another and drive between locations, followed by periods of intense physical labor covering and securing hay with tarps. The environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, with long hours, early mornings, extended days, and weekend work common during harvest season. The position involves working at heights on stacked hay and requires practical, weather-appropriate work attire suitable for heavy manual labor in outdoor agricultural and construction-like conditions
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Moses Lake, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $20.50/hr.
